November Working Bee #2

It was decided at the last working bee that we would have this extra one. We will continue to work on the Southern side of the Ridge track, clearing Olives and Flinders Ranges Wattle. Please meet at 8.50 am in the Ayliffes Road carpark and the trailer will then park on the Ridge Track east of Maggie’s Seat.

November Working Bee

At the next working bee on Saturday (1 November) we will continue working at clearing Olives on the Southern side of the Ridge Track. There will also be some weeding around the new plantings. Look forward to seeing you there, meeting in the Ayliffes Road Car park at 8.50 am to start work at 9.00 am.

October Working Bee

The next working bee is on Saturday, 4 October. There will be work on woody weeds - Boneseed in zone 5 Olives in zone 6, spraying of Bridal Creeper and Ron and Robyn will be brush cutting Wild Oats in Zone 4. Meeting as usual at 8.50 am in the Ayliffes Road car park. The trailer will be on the Ridge track near the Allocasuarinas on the southern side of the track.

September Working Bee #2

The next working bee for the Friends of Shepherds Hill Recreation Park is on Saturday, 20 September, meeting in the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am. 

Work will be from the trailer on the Ridge Track, southern side as we did last working bee, mostly dealing with Olives and Flinders Ranges Wattle.

If the weather looks bad another email will be sent on Friday night or Saturday morning.

September Working Bee

The next working bee is this Saturday, 6 September meeting at 8.50 am in the Ayliffes Road Car Park. The trailer will be on the Ridge track above Maggie’s seat and we will be working on Olives on the Southern side of the track. Weather is looking good so hope to see you there

August Working Bee #2

The next working bee is on Saturday, 16 August, meeting in the Ayliffes Road Car Park at 8.50 am. We will be working on Olives in the area west of the Archery. The weather is looking favourable. See you there.

August Working Bee

On Saturday (2 Aug) we will work in the area west of the Archery where we planted grasses in June weeding and treating Olives. Also we plan to do some direct seeding of grasses and Vittadinia in Zone 4. Hope to see you at the car park at 8.50 am!

July Working Bee #2

The next working bee of the Friends of Shepherds Hill Recreation Park will be on Saturday, 19 July. Meet in the Ayliffes Road Car park at 8.50 am and there will be work on Olives adjacent the car park.

We will also be conducting a Census of last year’s plantings, and removing guards from plants that have not survived and will need a couple of people to help with this.

July Working Bee

The next working bee for the Friends of Shepherds Hill Recreation Park is on Saturday, 5 July meeting in the car park on Ayliffes Road at 8.50 am. The work will be in the area adjacent the car park doing follow up work on Olives where the Contractor has recently been working.

June Working Bee #2

The next working bee is on Saturday, 21 June and we will be planting 100 grasses in the area to the West of the Archery. Meet in the Ayliffes Road carpark at 8.50 am.

May Working Bee #3

Our next working bee is this Saturday, 31 May. We will continue working at the junction Wattiparringa and Walkers Creek. The trailer will be located in the park adjacent the car park entrance - meet in the car park at 8.45 am. As Saturday, 7 June is the King's Birthday long weekend, there will be no working bee on that weekend.

May Working Bee #2

The Friends of Shepherds Hill Recreation Park next working bee is on Saturday, 17 May meeting at 8.45 am in the Ayliffes Road car park. The contractors have done a lot of work at the junction of Wattiparringa and Walkers creek, so we will work in this area on Olives, etc. The trailer will be inside the park adjacent the entrance of the car park. You can bring your vehicle through to the trailer if that suits.

May Working Bee

The Friends of Shepherds Hill Recreation Park next working bee is on Saturday,3 May meeting at 8.50 am in the Ayliffes Road car park. We will be working in the area west of the Archery and also in Zone 4 where, unfortunately, we still need to water our plantings. So if you can bring water and watering cans that would be great.

April Working Bee #2

The next working bee for the Friends of Shepherds Hill Recreation Park is next Saturday. Meet in the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am. We will be working in two areas as we did last time. One west of the Archery and the other in Zone 4 where we found a lot of small Olives which “popped“ out well with the tree popper. We'll probably also water the plants which have survived our incredible dry summer. so you could bring water?

April Working Bee

The next working bee of the Friends of Shepherds Hill Recreation Park will be on Saturday, 5 April meeting at the Ayliffes Road Car Park at 8.50 am. We will be working in two areas. Again it is necessary to water our plantings from last year due to the lack of rain. If you can bring water and watering cans that would be appreciated. The other activity will be to the west of the Archery where we worked last working bee. This will be dealing with woody weeds. Look forward to seeing you there.

March Working Bee

The next working bee of the Friends of Shepherds Hill Recreation Park will be on Saturday, 1 March. Please meet at 8.50 am in the Ayliffes Road car park.

There will be two groups:

  • one to water the threatened plants, and

  • the other to treat several large olives near the Viaduct  track west of the Archery area.

The trailer and one car will park in the Archery car park. The other group will go to Maggie’s seat to start watering. Please bring as much water as possible and watering cans.

February Working Bee

The next working bee in Shepherds Hill Recreation Park will be on Saturday, 8 February in lieu of the one scheduled for 1 February that was cancelled due to heat. Meet in the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at one of the work sites at 9.00 am. There will be two activities, watering last year's seedlings starting near Maggie's Seat near the top of the Ridge Track, and woody weed control near the Danthonia Track. The trailer will be located on the Danthonia Track.

 

If you are planning on watering, please bring as much water as you can manage and a watering can or bucket.
