Meetings are held from time to time. The Annual General Meeting is held in February. Meetings are usually scheduled to coincide with working bees, although they can also be held at the Lutheran Church at Pasadena or the Eden Hills Uniting Church Hall, when we can arrange a guest speaker. Contact the Secretary for details of the next meeting.
Working bees are generally held on the first Saturday of each month at 9.00 am. A sign on the gate at Ayliffes Road will let you know where the work site is for the morning. When the forecast temperature for a working bee morning is above 32oC, or a fire ban for the Mt Lofty Ranges has been issued, the working bee will not be held on that day.

Dear Friends of Shepherds Hill Recreation Park,

As we were unable to get together on Saturday, due to the weather, I would like to wish you all well this Christmas season. It was good to have so many people at the Blackwood Christmas Pageant on Friday, helping to promote our group and to share in the wonderful community and festive spirit. Thank you to those who participated and particularly to Ron for organising us and towing the trailer.

I hoped to see some of you at the DENR Christmas BBQ on Monday night at Old Noarlunga and everyone at the next working bee in February (weather permitting).
We have been invited on Sunday the 19 December, 2010 to the 25th birthday of the Friends of Belair National Park; the 119th birthday of the park. 08/12/2010 December Working Bee
With the forecast for 35 degrees C on Saturday, we have reluctantly decided to cancel the working bee. We wish you all the best for the festive season and hope to see you again in February.
03/12/2010 November Working Bee
The next working bee will be on Saturday 6 November. Meet as usual at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site. We'll be returning to our usual work site on the hillside to the south of the triangle area and will be working on olives, scabious and lavender. A small group will be detached to deal with broom regrowth near the Wattipparingga creek line.
01/11/2010 October Working Bee #2
Our next working bee will be on Saturday, 16 October. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site. We'll be working on woody weeds amongst our plantings east of the Ridge Track near the rocky outcrop below the junction with the Walkers Creek Track.
It will probably be a little quieter than last Saturday when we had two ambulances, one rescue vehicle, a CFS truck and the rescue helicopter assisting with the retrieval of a walker who fell off a cliff near the viaduct in Watiparinga
11/10/2010 October Working Bee Update
Based on an email poll of Members, we have deferred the working bee by a week, to Saturday, 9 October, to enable more members to attend. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site. We'll be back at our usual work site on the hillside above the triangle area targetting olives, scabious and lavender.
28/09/2010 October Working Bee
The next working bee is scheduled for Saturday, 2 October which is the Saturday of the October long weekend when some members may be going away. If a significant number are going to be away, it would be better to defer the working bee by a week, to Saturday 9 October. Members are being canvassed about which date best suits. Watch this space...
20/09/2010 September Working Bee
Our next working bee is on Saturday 18 September. Meet as usual at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site.
We had planned to work amongst our plantings up the Ridge Track, but the large amount of rain recently will have made the track slippery so we have decided to continue to work down the Wattiparringga Creek towards the archery. The trailer should be located on the level part of the Viaduct Track about 50 m or so west of the ford over the creek and the junction with the Ridge Track.
15/09/2010 Working Bee Cancellation
Due to the forecast of steady rain on Saturday and the slippery nature of some of the tracks in the park after all of the recent rain, we have decided to cancel the working bee on Saturday, 4 September. The next working bee will now be on Saturday, 18 September.
The Committee will hold a Committee Meeting at Melinda's place at 9.00am, Saturday, 4 September to discuss issues with our Liaison Ranger and plans for the Strawberry Fair. Interested members are invited to attend.
02/09/2010 August #2
Our next working bee will be on Saturday 21 August. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50am. As this is the second working bee for the month, we'll be working at an alternative site. On this occasion, we'll be working on olives amongst our plantings on each side of the Ridge Track on the western side of the park. Our first priority will be to deal with any olive regrowth or seedlings and any dog rose, amongst the reveg on the western side of the track, followed by olives amongst the plantings on the eastern side of the track. We also need to spend some time digging monadenia near Walkers Track.
The best location for the trailer will be somewhere near the rocky outcrops about two thirds of the way up the hill.
18/08/2010 August Working Bee #1
Our next working bee will be on Saturday 7 August. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am. We'll be back at our usual site on the hillside above the triangle area working on olives and lavender. There is also some follow up work to be done on lavender in the triangle area and on olives to the north of the creek.
Hope to see you there.
4/08/2010 July Working Bee #2
Our next working bee will be on Saturday, 17 July. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or the work site at 9.00 am. While there is clearly plenty of work to do below Ellis Avenue, access for the trailer is becoming more difficult with the slippery conditions, so we'll take a break from working in that area for a while. So this time, we'll start working down the creek from the point of the triangle towards the archery. The trailer will be on the Viaduct Track on the level part of the track about 50 metres west of the eastern junction of the Viaduct and Ridge Tracks.
13/07/2010 July Working Bee #1
Our next working bee will be on Saturday 3 July. Meet as usual at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50am. We'll continue working on the olives amongst the Grey Box on the hillside to the south of the triangle area.
30/06/2010 The Second June Working Bee
Our next working bee will be on Saturday, 19 June. As this is the second working bee of the month, we'll return to the area below Ellis Avenue and continue with olive control along the northern side of the Sewer Easement Track where we worked in April. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site.
16/06/2010 June Working Bee
The next working bee is Saturday, 5 June. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am. We'll finish off any olives in the first copse of Grey Box on the hillside above the triangle area and make a start on the second copse a little to the west of the first one. The trailer should be on the flat section of the track a little further west than previously.
03/06/2010 May News
The quiz night on 1 May was a great success and everyone seemed to have a good time. Best of all, it raised about $1,600 which will help enormously with running expenses. Many thanks to all those who contributed to organising and running the event.
The next working bee will be on Saturday 15 May. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50am or at Eden Field Archers. We will be working with the Archers to show them how to deal with the woody weeds, mainly olives, on their lease site.
10/05/2010 May Day Working Bee
The next working bee will be on Saturday 1 May. Meet as usual at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am. We'll be working in the usual area on the hillside above the triangle area. Robyn has about 25 trees to plant between the olives to replace those which didn't make it last year and we'll continue to deal with the olives amongst the Grey Box and outlier topped lavender.
And, of course, we have the quiz night at the Eden Hills Primary School at 7.00pm that night.
Cheers,
26/04/2010 April Working Bee
The next working bee will be on Saturday 17 April. Meet as usual at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site.
As this is the second working bee for the month, we will be working at a different site from usual. This time we will be working on olives near the creek to the north of the Sewer Easement Track below Ellis Avenue. The Sewer Easement Track is the northern boundary of the controlled burn area. The trailer should be located on the Sewer Easement Track about 100m from its eastern junction with the Boundary Track.
We had planned to treat olive regrowth in the controlled burn area, but have deferred that due to the difficulty of treating the regrowth with our usual methods. We now plan to spray the regrowth with glyphosate in a month or so when it will have developed more foliage and be better able to absorb the herbicide.
Cheers,
12/04/2010 March Working Bee
Our next working bee will be on Saturday 6 March. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am. We'll continue working on the olives in the Grey Box grove on the hillside to the south of the triangle and also make a start on controlling the outlying Topped Lavender around the main infestation on the same hillside to prevent it from spreading.
The following working bee would normally be on 3 April, Easter Saturday. It is therefore proposed to bring it forward to 27 March. We will discuss this on Saturday and decide then. April is also when we revert to two working bees a month so there will be another working bee on Saturday, 17 April.
And finally another reminder that annual subs are now due, so if you haven't yet paid please bring it along on Saturday.

29/01/2010 February Working Bee
Our first working bee will be on Saturday 6 February. Meet as usual at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am. We will continue working on the olives in the Grey Box grove to the south of the triangle area.
Following the working bee, there will be a committee meeting at Robyn's place, starting at about 12.15 pm. Any members interested in attending are very welcome. Unless you are planning a late lunch, you might want to bring a sandwich to eat during the meeting.
