August Working Bee #2
The next working bee will be on Saturday, 20 August. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site. As it is the second working bee of the month, we'll be working in one of our alternative work sites, in the creekline to the north of the Sewer Easement Track at the southern end of the park. DENR contractors have done a great job in removing or killing many of the olives in the creekline, but there are still some remaining. The work will include drilling and filling olives and also patrolling the adjacent 2009 burn site to remove boneseed and african daisy.

July Working Bee #2.... er #1
The last working bee did not happen because it was a significantly wet day. So, the next working bee will be on Saturday 16 July. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site. We have about 40 Grey Box trees to plant amongst the olives on the hillside above the triangle area and we need to do more follow up on olives, broom, boneseed and lavender in the triangle area. The trailer will be in its usual place above the triangle.

July Working Bee #1
Our next working bee will be on Saturday 2 July. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50am or at the work site.
We still have about 40 trees to plant, but we will defer that until we've had some significant rainfall. So we'll continue our follow up in the triangle area concentrating on olives, broom, boneseed and lavender.

Working Bee #2 - June
Our next working bee will be on Saturday 18 June. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site. We will be planting Grey Box trees between the olives on the slope to the north of the Ridge Track. The trailer will be on the flat part at the top of the ridge. We will need picks or mattocks to dig the holes and hammers to drive in the stakes to secure the tree guards and, while we have some of these in the trailer, it would be good if you could bring along your favourite digger or hammer and possibly a bucket to carry things from the trailer site to where we will be planting.

June Update
The next working bee will be on Saturday, 4 June. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site. This time we want to do some follow-up work on woody weeds in the triangle area, particularly olive regrowth and seedlings, broom and boneseed. The trailer will be located in the usual place on the flat part of the Ridge Track above the triangle.
Robyn is looking for a few more volunteers to staff the display at the World Environment Day event at the Karka Pavilion, Belair National Park from 10.00 to 3.30 on Sunday 5 June. If you can help, please contact her.

May Working Bee #2
The next working bee will be on Saturday 21 May. Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site. We will be working on woody weeds in the creek line below the Viaduct Track to push the weed front westwards towards the archery club and also on the lavender above the Viaduct Track. The trailer should be located on the Viaduct Track about mid-way between the eastern junction with the Ridge Track and the Dianella longifolia and close enough to the side of the track to enable cars to pass.

April Working Bee
Our next working bee will be the first of our second working bees on the third Saturday of each month this year. As previously, we will take the opportunity with these working bees to work in areas other than our primary site. This time we will work on woody weeds in the creek line below the Viaduct Track to continue pushing the weed front down the creek towards the Archery Club. Some of us will also work on lavender to clear any new growth below the Viaduct Track and to start pushing the lavender weedfront uphill above the track.
I've been advised that the work on the Viaduct Track has been completed with a capping of gravel or dolomite. The preferred location for the trailer is on the Viaduct Track about 100m west of the eastern junction of the Viaduct and Ridge Tracks as shown on the attached map(somewhere near the Dianella longifolia marked by the white-tipped stakes) and preferably close enough to the edge of the track to enable cars to pass and turn around at the track junction.
Meet at the Ayliffes Road car park at 8.50 am or at the work site.
