Meetings are held from time to time. The Annual General Meeting is held in February. Meetings are usually scheduled to coincide with working bees, although they can also be held at the Lutheran Church at Pasadena or the Eden Hills Uniting Church Hall, when we can arrange a guest speaker. Contact the Secretary for details of the next meeting.
Working bees are held on the first Saturday of each month at 9:00am. A sign on the gate at Ayliffes Road will let you know where the work site is for the morning. If on the previous evening ABC Radio forecasts a temperature above 30 degrees for Saturday, the starting time of the working bee will be 8:00am. When the forecast temperature for a working bee morning is above 35 degrees, or a fire ban has been issued, the working bee will not be held on that day.

Working Bees for 2004 are:

  • 7th February (cancelled - total fire ban in force)

  • 6th March (this was the first one for the year - a pleasant 28 degrees)

  • 3rd April

  • 1st May

  • 5th June

  • 3rd July

  • 7th August

  • 4th September

  • 2nd October

  • 6th November

  • 4th December

September Working Bee
Just a reminder about next Saturday's working bee. Meet as usual in the Ayliffe's Road carpark at 9:00am. If it's fine we will continue to work along Viaduct Creek, but because of the washout of the creek crossing, we'll park the trailer on a level part of the Ridge Track just up the hill from its junction with the Viaduct Track. If it's wet, we'll attack the Topped Lavender near the junction of the two tracks.

Working Bee 7th August
Just a reminder that the working bee will be held on Saturday next, 7th August. Meet as usual in the Ayliffe Road Carpark at 9:00am. If the weather is reasonably fine, it is suggested that work continue in our usual area along the Viaduct Track close to the boundary with Watiparinga. If it is not possible to get to that area, the top lavender growing close to the eastern junction of the Ridge and Viaduct Tracks could be tackled (it's just short of the usual working area).

Night Stalker!
This is to let you know that the Great Australian Marsupial Night Stalk is fast approaching.
In 2004, Night Stalk is proudly supported by Tiwest and will run between 16th August and 30th September.
Now in its sixth year, Night Stalk is a national, spotlight survey of local bush, conducted by any interested family, school, community, or conservation groups. The program aims to raise awareness of Australian marsupials and their threats. Information collected is sent to Perth Zoo where it is collated and then made available to conservation agencies.
I am seeking your assistance in promoting Night Stalk to members of your community. It's easy to do and the only equipment required is a torch. All the information needed to run a successful night stalk is available on Perth Zoo's website (www.perthzoo.wa.gov.au and click on the Night Stalk button).
If anyone is interested in hosting a Night Stalk I would love to hear back from you.
If you are able to assist I can be contacted by by phone on (08) 9474 0497.
Thanking you in anticipation
Regards
Jackie Brown, Education Officer
